Inspired by lives spent travelling, touring and chasing new adventures, "Change Is Calling Me" naturally reflects the lives of both duos who met while playing gigs in Fuerteventura and bonded over music and their campervan lifestyles. The themes of movement, optimism and embracing change make the song the perfect soundtrack for road-tripping, changing careers, moving house, or simply starting a new chapter in life.

The song was debuted at a highly anticipated, sold-out show in Southport's new Warehouse Arts Centre where the four artists showed how much fun they have onstage together- a feeling that was captured in the feel-good, whimsical music video for the tune.  The collaboration brings together the two duos whose musical styles complement each other effortlessly. APRIL MOON's infectious energy, playful songwriting and roots-driven sound sit perfectly alongside Winding Roots' heartfelt folk storytelling and expressive fiddle playing, resulting in a song that feels both deeply personal and just plain joyous. 

Made up of Jaime April and Jason Moon, APRIL MOON have built a reputation for unforgettable live performances, blending alt-country, Americana, folk, blues and rock into the sound they proudly call "Canadiana." Their 2025 EP, Forgiveness Juice helped establish the duo as rising names on the UK's country and roots scene, allowing them to tour across the UK and into mainland Europe in their campervan ‘The Clubhouse’.  With a new album on the horizon for early 2027, APRIL MOON will be continuing 'The Tour That Never Ends' - living on the road and travelling from venue to festival to venue.

Country-folk duo Winding Roots (Harry “Kirzy” Kirzynowski and Becky Gilman), blend heartfelt songwriting, rhythmic acoustic and looping and upbeat fiddle melodies with a healthy dose of contemporary folk and country charm.  After years of writing and performing together across Fuerteventura, Ireland and the UK, the pair have recently put down roots in York, where they’re busy working on new songs, while bringing their warm, rootsy sound to stages near and far.

With its uplifting spirit, rich harmonies and timeless message, "Change Is Calling Me" is a celebration of fresh starts, open roads and having the courage to follow wherever life leads next.

Collaborations involving multiple musicians can easily become exercises in overcrowding. “Change Is Calling Me” succeeds because its abundance of ideas is remarkably well controlled.

Its rotating vocal personalities immediately create interest, but the instrumental arrangement is equally accomplished. Banjo and fiddle establish its roots foundation before electric guitar begins interacting with them, culminating in an excellent Telecaster solo that complements rather than competes with the fiddle.

Particularly effective are the rhythmic stops within the chorus. They're relatively small arrangement decisions, yet they transform the energy of the section and give the hook considerably more impact.

There is an almost live spontaneity to the performance, but underneath it sits careful musical communication. Busy, inventive and full of character without ever becoming cluttered. 

Best New Country

Now this sounds like a group of musicians having fun.

“Change Is Calling Me” is bursting with ideas from the opening bars, with fantastic fiddle and banjo playing providing the roots before the arrangement begins throwing out one musical treat after another.

Just when you've settled into the song, there's a guitar lick, a new harmony or another voice appearing to change its character. The multiple vocalists work brilliantly together, while the stops in the chorus give the whole performance an infectious jump of energy.

And country guitar lovers should listen out for some fabulous Telecaster work. The solo is pure country twang and sounds particularly good intertwined with that flying fiddle.

Joyful, energetic and packed with first-rate musicianship — this one is ridiculously good fun.
